The move
One statement covered both the exit and the appointment. Bernews and The Royal Gazette each carried it word for word. “The Boards of Directors of Bittrex Global GmbH [Vaduz, Liechtenstein] and Bittrex Global [Bermuda] Ltd [Hamilton, Bermuda] have confirmed that Tom Albright is stepping down from his role as CEO of both companies effective today. The Boards are grateful for the contributions Tom has made,” the statement read1. Bill Shihara, co-founder of Bittrex Inc., praised Albright's tenure. “Tom has brought key leadership as Bittrex Global has grown to serve the crypto marketplace,” Shihara said. “Tom has also helped guide the company through a period of significant growth and change within our sector”.

Before and after at Bittrex Global
Albright led Bittrex Global's two entities, the Liechtenstein-registered GmbH and the Bermuda-licensed Ltd. Stonberg, his successor, had served as the company's chief financial officer and chief operating officer since February 2019, Shihara's statement said1. Shihara pointed to that record. “Stephen has served as CFO and COO since February 2019, and has a deep understanding of our business, and has over 25 years experience in the financial services sector, and held leadership roles in blue-chip banking institutions,” Shihara said. The boards gave Stonberg an interim title. His mandate was to oversee the companies while they weighed a permanent choice.
What came next
Bittrex Global had dropped the word "interim" from Stonberg's title by June 2022. A company release dated June 27, 2022, said Stonberg had “overseen the growth of the company and its personnel and the creation of a highly experienced leadership team” before he stepped down as CEO that day. The boards named Oliver Linch, then the general counsel, as his successor3. Stonberg's run atop Bittrex Global lasted just over thirteen months, from his May 18, 2021 appointment to his June 27, 2022 exit.
