CZ Bets BNB Chain's Speed Push on One Coin

CZ bets BNB Chain's new speed push on one coin, as a trading bot's drain costs users near $1 million.

“"One token for every chain CZ builds" is the plan behind BNB Chain's fastest network yet, aimed at blocks of 200 milliseconds and more than 100,000 transactions a second [2][3]. Does one coin carry that weight for two chains at once?”

Changpeng Zhao posted four words on X. The time was 19:44 UTC on Oct. 25, 2026. "Multiple chains, one coins."1 The Binance co-founder meant BNB Chain's new plan. A fast network will run beside BNB Smart Chain. One coin will pay for both. By 05:16 UTC the next morning, the post had 2,188 likes and 608 replies.

CZ Puts the Whole Bet on One Token

BNB Chain's new network has a speed target. Blocks should land every 200 milliseconds3. Pre-confirmations should take near 20 milliseconds. Throughput should top 100,000 transactions a second, Crypto Briefing reported. The network runs today as an internal devnet. A public testnet comes by the end of 2026. Mainnet follows in early 2027.

Every job on both chains falls to one coin. Gas, staking and governance on both chains now run through BNB, Crypto Briefing reported, citing Zhao's own comments3. PANews described the same plan under a shorter label. A native bridge links the two chains. BNB becomes the new network's only coin2.

Cointelegraph's own recap landed hours later. “TODAY: CZ hints at 'multiple chains, one coin' as BNB Chain's updated docs reveal plans for a new high-performance EVM L1,” the outlet posted, drawing 164 likes by 05:16 UTC4.

BNB Chain used one token before this plan, too. What changes is the size of the bet. A second, faster network now leans on that same coin. Traders can already buy BNB on dozens of exchanges. The network skips a reserve built just for it.

David Z is BNB Chain's chief technology officer. He described the network's design to The Block in July6. The design skips a public pool of pending transactions. A structure called TxStream replaces it. The design also reserves block space for urgent functions. Liquidations and oracle updates get that reserved space, under a structure called PriorityLane. Both features target the same traders CZ's post names. Those traders need a transaction to land in a predictable spot every time. They want that edge ahead of anyone trying to front-run them.

Both sides, in their own words

A Validator Set Critics Have Called Centralized for Years

BNB Smart Chain elects 45 active validators each day8. Only 21 of them actually produce blocks in a given epoch. BNB Chain's own documentation shows both numbers. That design drew sharp criticism when the chain was new. Messari analyst Wilson Withiam reviewed the chain's validator rotation in 2021. “It's hard not to presume that each Binance Chain validator is in some way connected or tied to Binance,” he wrote7.

CZ's new plan keeps that same validator structure for the faster network. It skips a separate one. Binance itself still influences who stakes BNB and who runs a validator. Withiam flagged that exact concentration five years ago. BNB Chain names high-frequency trading and AI agents as the new network's target market. That network runs on the same small validator set BSC has used since 20203.

David Z defends the design on execution grounds, separate from token spread. “For co-located HFT, a CEX still wins today. For everyone else, this is the CEX experience without the custodial risk,” he told The Block in July6. He framed the network as a way to keep users on BNB Chain. Losing them to a centralized exchange's speed was the alternative. “The goal is growing the total BNB Chain pie, not re-slicing it,” Z said.

      BNB's Price Shows Little Reaction

BNB traded at $741.89 at 05:16 UTC on Oct. 26, 2026, per CoinGecko5. CZ's announcement reached X the evening before. The coin's price stayed flat into the next morning.

CZ's plan asks BNB to do two jobs at once. It must pay every fee on two networks. Holding its value steady enough for traders is the second job. CZ's post answered the first question. The second stays open until the testnet carries real volume. Every BNB holder now shares that stake. The traders the new network courts share it most directly.

Three More Flagged Posts Carried Real Losses

Crypto feeds carried three more posts the same stretch. Each one reported a loss rather than a plan.

BloomTrading is a Telegram-based trading bot. Its users' wallets started draining late on Oct. 259. The bot generates and holds its users' private keys itself. Crypto Briefing named that custodial setup as the likely point of failure. Onchain Lens flagged the drain pattern first. A hacker moved 9,408 SOL out of 49 victims' wallets11. That SOL came to about $954,000. It all landed in one suspected drainer address. The largest single loss was 1,636 SOL, about $166,000. TokenPost confirmed the same victim count the next day10. Bloom is investigating "a possible third-party compromise." The company has promised to reimburse affected users through newly generated wallets, Crypto Briefing reported.

A second post reported a trader's leveraged bet, a loss chosen rather than stolen. Onchain Lens tracked one Hyperliquid wallet12. That wallet carried $3.94 million in lifetime profit. It opened a 26,000 HYPE long near $1.99 million, at 10x leverage. Buy orders added another 23,500 HYPE, about $1.7 million more. The position carried an unrealized loss of $3,800. Its 30-day loss ran to $370,900. HYPE traded near $75.47 on Oct. 25, by crypto.news's own reading13. The outlet named $65 and $75 as its nearest support levels. It also flagged a weak reading on the relative strength index, a sign the slide had room to run. CoinGecko priced the coin at $76.18 as of 05:16 UTC on Oct. 2614.

A third post tracked an institution selling two tokens at once. EmberCN reported the wallet's latest move15. It sent 16.1 million WLD to exchanges, about $7.39 million. AAVE followed: 35,000 tokens, about $4.81 million. Those two moves came in a single day. They brought the wallet's two-day total to roughly $45.38 million. TechFlow and KuCoin News each confirmed the same two-day figures1617. The wallet sold 35.1 million WLD in total, for about $17.06 million. It sold 6,000 ETH for about $14.4 million, and 97,000 AAVE for about $13.92 million.

Each of those three posts reported money changing hands on terms the record could check. A drained wallet, leveraged losses and a tracked transfer each carried its own evidence. Readers could add up every dollar named in each post. They could check that total against a block explorer or an exchange's own data. CZ's post reported a different kind of fact. It named a plan still running on an internal devnet. The plan's biggest test, a public network carrying real transactions, still lies ahead.

      By the numbers

      • 2,188 likes and 608 replies: the count on CZ's "Multiple chains, one coins." post by 05:16 UTC on Oct. 26, 20261.
      • 200 milliseconds: BNB Chain's target block time for its planned network, with throughput above 100,000 transactions a second3.
      • 45 active validators, with 21 selected each epoch to produce blocks: BNB Smart Chain's current structure, per its own documentation8.
      • $741.89: BNB's price at 05:16 UTC on Oct. 26, 2026, per CoinGecko5.
      • $954,000: the value of 9,408 SOL drained from 49 BloomTrading users, tracked to one suspected address11.
      • $370,900: one Hyperliquid trader's loss over 30 days on a leveraged HYPE long, against $3.94 million in lifetime profit12.
      • $45.38 million: one institution's two-day sale of WLD, ETH and AAVE tracked by EmberCN, TechFlow and KuCoin News1516.

      What to watch

Watch BNB Chain's public testnet, due by the end of 2026. It gives the first real read on whether 200-millisecond blocks hold up outside a devnet. A validator change would answer Withiam's 2021 concern directly. BNB Smart Chain's validator count has stayed the same, so the critique stands. BloomTrading's promised reimbursement will test something else. It will show whether a custodial bot can make its users whole after a drain. Watch BNB's price against trading volume on both networks, too, once the new chain carries real transactions. That is the test CZ's single-token bet still awaits.
