David Schwartz told the XRP community on September 30, 2025 that he would step back from his job as Ripple's chief technology officer. The change would take effect at the end of the year. “The time has come for me to step back from my day-to-day duties as Ripple CTO at the end of this year,” he wrote in a post on X. “But be warned, I'm not going away from the XRP community. You haven't seen the last of me (now, or ever).” Schwartz had held the CTO title since 2018. He had worked on the XRP Ledger since 2011. That year he met Arthur Britto, Jed McCaleb and Chris Larsen, and the four started coding it together. Ripple confirmed on September 30, 2025 that Dennis Jarosch , its senior vice president of engineering, would take over as chief technology officer.
