The move
Quant's announcement said Russ would “apply her extensive leadership skills, commercial acumen and knowledge of the financial technology landscape” to the role1. Russ described the timing herself. “I'm delighted to join the leadership team at Quant at what feels like something of a pivotal juncture,” Russ said. She named the “strong momentum behind financial services firms pursuing the new revenue lines and reduced risk enabled by tokenised deposits, programmable payments, and digital assets.”
Why create a commercial officer title around one hire? Quant's founder and chief executive, Gilbert Verdian, tied the new post to Russ's mix of skills. “Lenna combines knowledge of technological innovation and traditional finance with a pragmatic, customer-first commercial approach,” Verdian said1. Finextra's report credited Russ with three wins at Tradeteq. She led a $12.5 million Series A Plus funding round, opened a new Dubai office, and won the firm a seat in the FCI, the trade-finance industry's global body2.
Quant before and after
Before the hire, Quant lacked an executive dedicated solely to commercial strategy1. The role Russ took was newly created, the company's own release said. Russ brought more than 20 years in consulting, financial services and software. That included a decade heading the enterprise group at NICE Satmetrix and a stint as global senior vice president of commercial at Polecat, Quant's release said. After the hire, Russ held accountability for marketing, sales and product development, the company said.
What came next
Russ still held the title in January 2026, sixteen months later. Quant announced a partnership with the Japanese firm Dentsu Soken on January 14, 2026, to help Japanese banks adopt tokenized deposits3. The announcement quoted Russ in her Quant role. She explained what the partnership would deliver: programmable settlement tools, tokenized deposit and bank-issued stablecoin logic, and treasury automation for banks. Verdian, still chief executive, called the deal part of a pivotal year for stablecoins, in his own quote in the same release.
