On Saturday, November 23, 2024, Trung Nguyen announced on X that Sky Mavis, the studio behind Axie Infinity and the Ronin network, had “made the tough decision to let go of 21% of our workforce.” Nguyen is the company's co-founder and chief executive, and Decrypt's report of his post is the first source for this event. CoinDesk recalled that co-founder Aleksander Larsen had counted 250 employees in 2023. It asked Sky Mavis for a current headcount and the number affected, and the reply was pending at publication. Twenty-one percent of 250 comes to about 52 people, an estimate The CryptoLately.com Desk computed itself and holds for confirmation.
