“Stable named Matthew Tabbiner chief executive among four new chief officers on August 28, 2025, and on October 3, 2026, its own team page named Brian Mehler instead. Should a layer 1 built for predictable settlement explain a change like that to its own users?”

Stable, the layer 1 blockchain network built on USDT, announced on August 28, 2025, that Matthew Tabbiner had joined as chief executive officer, part of a single release that also named Sam Kazemian as chief technology officer, Brian Mehler as chief financial officer, and Thibault Reichelt as chief operating officer1. Citybiz carried the same announcement on August 28, 20252.

      The move

Tabbiner spoke for himself in Stable's release. “I'm honored to step into the role of CEO at this pivotal moment for Stable,” he said1. He credited the founders for the work already done. “The founders have done an incredible job bringing the project to life and building the foundation for Stable to succeed,” Tabbiner said, adding that he was "excited to help take the protocol to the next level". He welcomed his three new colleagues by name too, saying each “brings the expertise, vision, and executional focus we need to accelerate Stable's growth and expand the reach of our platform globally”.

Stable's release described Tabbiner as "a seasoned founder, advisor, and investor." He had advised the Milken Institute on its Middle East and Africa operations. He also served as a partner at Introsight Advisors and co-founded Bonzai Technologies1. Kazemian joined from Frax, a stablecoin project he founded that Stable's release called "a top-five global stablecoin with a $1.4 billion market value". Mehler came from Gateway Capital and Block.one. He had helped manage a $1 billion blockchain fund at the latter, the release said. Reichelt had backed Compound, dYdX, StarkWare, Circle, Kraken, Wintermute, Anthropic and xAI as a venture investor before joining Stable.

      Stable before and after

Stable's own release called the network “the layer 1 blockchain network powered by USDT and designed to achieve seamless financial transactions through stablecoins.” The release set a goal, too: becoming "the core payments layer for Tether adoption"1. A single announcement filled all four chief officer seats at once. That gave Stable a complete executive team around that goal, in one day.

      What came next

Stable's own team page, read October 3, 2026, lists Brian Mehler as chief executive officer3. Mehler held the chief financial officer title in August 20251. Kazemian and Reichelt remain in the chief technology and chief operating roles the August 2025 release gave them. The team page leaves the chief executive change undated and unexplained. Every later page The CryptoLately.com Desk opened stays silent on it too. Stable's own banner advertised a booth at Korea Blockchain Week, held September 30 to October 1, 2026. Stable was still operating more than a year after Tabbiner's August 2025 appointment.
