The move
Alegre announced his own exit on X. “Please see the news below of the announcement I just made internally to our Yuga Labs employees. I am so grateful to have had the opportunity to lead this great team and to have connected globally with so many community members. Yuga has such a bright future,” he wrote1. Alegre's own account points to that internal announcement as employees' first word of the change. The Block described the change plainly: Yuga Labs "has replaced its CEO"2.
Solano's own post framed the exit in friendlier terms. “Wylie and I are grateful for all the contributions and operational rigor Daniel has brought to the company, and appreciate his thoughtfulness and mentorship over the past year,” Solano wrote, addressing Alegre directly2. Yuga Labs declined to comment further on the change.
Before and after the handoff
Only Nicole Muniz had publicly held the title before him, The Block said2. Bored Ape Yacht Club floor prices came under pressure right before his exit. Rival Pudgy Penguins briefly passed it that week, in February 2024, The Block said.
What came next
Solano, Alegre's replacement, ran Yuga Labs until April 2026, about two years. The Block reported on April 16, 2026, that Solano was moving to chairman of the board, with Michael Figge, at the company since 2021, becoming chief executive3. That report placed Alegre's tenure in context, noting he had been CEO for about ten months when Solano replaced him.
