B2C2 named Thomas Restout Group CEO on January 8, 2024, replacing Nicola White1. A press release on January 8 announced it. Ledger Insights reported the same day that Restout had served as the firm's EMEA CEO since joining from Morgan Stanley in September 20222. White had held the Group CEO role since November 2022, the outlet added. B2C2 is majority owned by the Japanese financial conglomerate SBI, which acquired the firm in 2020.

The move
Restout's history with B2C2 predates his employment there. He met co-founder Max Boonen on a trading floor at Goldman Sachs and became "one of B2C2's earliest investors," the company's release said1. Boonen described Restout as "an early supporter of B2C2" who “was already a rising star when we met on the trading floor 10 years ago”. He credited Restout's career in traditional finance with giving him "a fantastic foundation to support our clients in the crypto space". Yoshitaka Kitao, chairman, president and chief executive of SBI Holdings, named a specific deal in his praise of the new CEO. “Thomas has been instrumental in B2C2's progress over the past 12 months, notably with the acquisition of Woorton in France,” Kitao said.
Restout spoke to his own plans for the role. “B2C2's business is stronger than ever, and I look forward to working alongside our outstanding management team to execute on our global strategy of building on our position as one of the leading liquidity providers in crypto markets,” he said1. Restout spent four years at Goldman Sachs and began his career at Natixis before joining Morgan Stanley, where he was global head of macro electronic trading, Ledger Insights reported2.
B2C2 before and after
White had been promoted to Group CEO in November 2022 after leading B2C2's US business, Ledger Insights reported2. Restout inherited a firm that had just closed the acquisition of the French market maker Woorton1. Kitao singled out that deal as evidence of the company's progress under Restout's prior EMEA role. The announcement named only Restout's elevation to the group-wide post, and left the EMEA CEO title he vacated unfilled.
What came next
Restout kept the top job and expanded B2C2's reach. B2C2 appointed Cactus Raazi as CEO of its US unit on September 3, 2024, reporting directly to Restout, Finance Magnates reported that day3. “Cactus has an exceptional track record in finance and technology, and he is therefore perfectly placed to develop the US offering to the next stage of our growth,” Restout said of the hire. The same report said B2C2 had generated revenue of 57.14 billion yen in the fiscal year ending March 2024, an 88.5 percent jump from the prior year, and had turned a pre-tax profit of 8.4 billion yen.
