The move
CCI described itself in its own release as "a global alliance of crypto industry leaders" and said Warren would assume the chief executive role as its first CEO1. Warren's own statement set out her read of the industry's potential. “The crypto ecosystem is poised to deliver large-scale economic growth, empower communities, and improve lives all over the world,” she said in the announcement. CoinDesk reported that Warren had spent years at the World Economic Forum shaping its approach to blockchain policy before the move2.
Before and after at CCI
Warren arrived as the first person to hold CCI's chief executive title, a role the organization's own materials describe as inaugural3. CoinDesk's report framed the hire as a lobbying group reaching into a policy institution for its first leader, rather than hiring from inside the crypto industry it represents2. The move gave CCI a chief executive with a World Economic Forum background heading into a year, 2022, that would bring sharper regulatory scrutiny to digital assets in Washington.
What came next
Warren ran CCI for close to three years. The organization's own Dec. 13, 2024 announcement said she would step down as "the inaugural CEO of CCI," effective Jan. 6, 2025, after what the release called "three years of distinguished service"3. Ji Hun Kim, then CCI's chief legal and policy officer, took over as acting CEO before the board named him permanent chief executive on July 24, 2025. The title Warren had been the first to hold passed to a second person inside the same organization she helped build.
