Perianne Boring stepped down as chief executive of the Digital Chamber on March 19, 2025, the trade association said1. She moved into the role of chair of its board of directors after more than a decade running the group she founded. Cody Carbone, who had served as president, succeeded her as CEO, set to take the title in April 2025. CoinDesk reported on March 19, 2025, that Boring was “stepping down after a decade atop the oldest U.S. crypto advocacy group”2.

The move
Boring framed her exit around a changed political climate rather than a problem at the organization. “Now is the time to advance policy, drive adoption, and execute on the vision we have been fighting for over the past decade. Cody has been a tremendous leader in Washington, and I have full confidence in his ability to take TDC to the next level,” Boring said in the release announcing the transition1. She told CoinDesk the shift reflected Washington's posture toward crypto rather than her own appetite for the fight. “We're no longer in a defensive stance, where we have a government that's essentially trying to shut down the industry,” Boring said2. CoinDesk reported she had "no immediate commitment for a role outside the organization" beyond the chair seat, and quoted her on her next move. “My next step is really kind of exploring additional passions that I have in the crypto space,” she said.
Before and after at the Digital Chamber
Boring founded the Digital Chamber in 2014 and ran it as chief executive for more than a decade, the release said1. The Digital Chamber grew, in its own words, into "the world's leading trade association representing blockchain and digital asset businesses". Chris Giancarlo credited her tenure directly in the same release. He is a former chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and a Digital Chamber advisory board member. “Perianne has been a pioneering champion for the industry and has built The Digital Chamber into the preeminent policy voice for the digital asset industry,” Giancarlo said. CoinDesk reported that under Boring's leadership the group had become one of the most prominent crypto lobbying organizations in Washington by member count. Its budget, though, trailed the rival Blockchain Association2. Boring held the board chair seat after March 19, 2025, and Carbone took over the group's policy and advocacy work.
What came next
Boring was still chair of the Digital Chamber on May 18, 2026, nearly 14 months after leaving the chief executive job. She remained a public voice for the industry she had lobbied for since 2014. Fox Business identified her on May 18, 2026, as "The Digital Chamber founder and Chairman" in a segment on "Mornings with Maria"3. She discussed the Clarity Act's progress out of Senate committee and the use of digital assets beyond financial services. The bill was still stalled in the Senate on May 18, 2026, nearly 14 months after Boring handed its pursuit to Carbone in March 20251.
