The move
Immutable's own announcement spelled out Findlay's mandate in plain terms. “In her new role at Immutable, Gill will be responsible for the daily operations of the business, working closely with Immutable's co-founders, brothers James and Robbie Ferguson, to provide strategic vision and leadership,” the company said1. James Ferguson, Immutable's chief executive, grouped Findlay with the two other hires in his own statement. “We are delighted to welcome Gill, John and Kath to Immutable. Their experience and insights will be key as we rapidly scale one of the fastest growing companies in crypto and capture the growing global demand for NFTs,” Ferguson said.
Findlay's firm had invested in Immutable before she joined it. AirTree joined Immutable's A$82 million Series B round, led by King River Capital and BITKRAFT Ventures1. Investing.com's report echoed the company's own words, calling Findlay someone who had "held various senior roles in some of Australia's leading tech firms"2.
What Findlay had run before
SafetyCulture came first on her résumé. Immutable's own release called it a unicorn, and Findlay spent four years there as chief operating officer, leading go-to-market, finance, people and operations work1. Before that stop, she ran Vamp, a marketing technology firm, as its chief executive, and she stayed on its board in an advisory capacity after she left. AirTree ties stayed too; she kept the title of Venture Partner there even while she took the full-time Immutable role.
What came next
Findlay left Immutable in February 2025, according to The Australian Financial Review's report on May 26, 2025. The newspaper named her Immutable's "longest-serving executive," apart from its three founders3. Her departure came during what the Financial Review called "a tumultuous year behind the scenes" at the company. Three other executives left in the same stretch: chief financial officer David Bicknell, chief legal officer Ed Bunting and chief commercial officer Jason Suen. An Immutable spokesman told the Financial Review the company had "a remarkably stable leadership team since its foundation" and that “the changes this year and last year are not out of the ordinary”. Immutable promoted Tori Brooks to head of operations once Findlay departed, the Financial Review reported.
