The move
Daniel Roberts, IREN's co-founder and co-chief executive, framed Nucifora's exit around specific accomplishments rather than a generic thank-you. “Belinda has made a tremendous contribution during a transformative period for IREN, and both Will and I are deeply appreciative of her contribution and commitment during this time,” Roberts said in the filing1. He credited her directly with process work inside the finance function. “She has been instrumental in strengthening our systems and controls, enhancing processes, and overseeing the transition to U.S. GAAP reporting,” Roberts said. Her efforts, he added, "have laid strong foundations on which we will continue to build". The filing closed Roberts's statement with a plain line wishing her well in "her future endeavors".
IREN's filing names only tenure length as the reason. Its text states she was "departing after 3.5 years as CFO"1. The Globe and Mail's report repeats that same timeline2. Her departure's cause stays limited, on this record, to length of service.
IREN before and after
Nucifora's 3.5-year tenure spanned a shift at IREN. IREN moved from Bitcoin mining alone toward the AI infrastructure business Roberts described as undergoing "accelerated expansion"1. A U.S. GAAP transition Roberts credited to her placed IREN's financial reporting on the standard American public companies use. That change preceded the capital-intensive financing rounds the company pursued afterward. Lewis inherited the finance function with his existing chief capital officer duties intact, the filing said. His role now combined those duties with the CFO's reporting and strategic planning responsibilities.

IREN's finance function, under Lewis, moved toward larger and more frequent capital raises in the year after Nucifora's departure. IREN held an earnings call for its fiscal 2026 results on August 27, 2026, according to a transcript Investing.com published that day3. Lewis told analysts IREN had "secured circa $19 billion in funding" over the preceding 12 months. Co-founder Daniel Roberts, on the same call, described how fast that financing market had grown since Nucifora's tenure ended. “Twelve months ago, GPU financing barely existed as an asset class, and in the last three months, we've raised $6.5 billion of it at both ends of the credit spectrum,” Roberts said.
