Anthony Moro, the foundation's acting chief executive, took the top job at the new unit, ProvLabs, Crowdfund Insider reported on August 32. Ou co-founded the Provenance Blockchain in 2018. She returned to lead the foundation while its board searched for a permanent successor.

The move
Provenance Blockchain Foundation's own X post framed the change as two moves at once. “Provenance Blockchain Foundation is thrilled to announce the carve-out of @ProvLabs! As of today, @realafm111 becomes ProvLabs CEO, & the Foundation is excited to welcome back Co-Creator of Provenance Blockchain, @juneou, as the interim Executive Director,” the foundation wrote1. Crowdfund Insider's report filled in Ou's background. She had served as co-founder and president of Figure Technology Solutions and as chief technology officer at SoFi. Her role at Figure Markets continued alongside the new foundation post2.
Why move Moro sideways instead of removing him? Provenance had been "incubating ProvLabs in 2023" before splitting it off, Crowdfund Insider reported. Co-lead investors were already lined up for a seed round, due to close by the end of the third quarter of 20242. Ou spoke directly to the transition in the same report. “We are appreciative of the work Anthony did bringing blockchain to the TradFi community, and are excited about his continuing that work in ProvLabs. We are thrilled to continue working with ProvLabs, the broader Figure ecosystem and new community members to extend the reach of Provenance Blockchain,” she said.
Provenance before and after
Moro had joined the foundation in 2022. Crowdfund Insider credited him with "extensive traditional and decentralized capital markets experience" in the acting chief executive role he held before the split2. Under the new setup, Moro became ProvLabs' first chief executive. His job: build software for asset issuers on the chain. The board opened a search for a permanent executive director to replace Ou, Crowdfund Insider reported. Founded in 2022, the foundation backs the public, open-source Provenance Blockchain and serves, in the report's words, as "a speaking partner to regulators and the broader financial services industry".
What came next
Ou remained in the role eighteen months later. Provenance deepened its partnership with Figure Technology Solutions instead of naming a permanent successor, The Block reported on January 21, 20263. “June Ou will remain director of the foundation, supported by additional Figure resources,” The Block wrote. Figure would handle technical, operational and administrative work, while HASH token holders kept onchain voting power, the outlet reported. Michael Tannenbaum, Figure's chief executive, told The Block the arrangement let his firm "augment the Foundation leadership team," staying clear of its governance votes.
