Saylor's Orange Chart Hints at Another Bitcoin Buy

Michael Saylor posted his familiar buy signal again, and Strategy's Monday filing will show if new Bitcoin purchases followed.

“A four-word post about color moved markets harder than two long Binance statements the same day. Saylor's chart has come before a real bitcoin purchase three times running this October, each one confirmed days later in an SEC filing. Does Sunday's chart point to a fourth, or just another headline?”

Michael Saylor posted four words and a chart on X at 12:44 UTC on Nov. 1, 2026. "We found room for even more orange," he wrote, beside a picture of Strategy's bitcoin holdings1. Strategy, the company Saylor runs as executive chairman, held 848,517 bitcoin that week. Its average cost sat at $75,437 a coin. Bitcoin itself traded at $77,804 that same hour, a slim 3% above Strategy's own average price2. The post drew 11,990 likes and 689 replies by 23:00 UTC.

The Orange Chart Has Come Before

Saylor posts a version of this orange-themed chart most Sundays2. A similar post on Oct. 5 carried the caption "More orange than ever." Strategy's SEC filing that week showed a purchase of 334 bitcoin, bought for $28.7 million4. The chart, in Saylor's own telling, tracks the value of every coin Strategy has bought since 2020, with one dot for each purchase.

Two more Sunday posts followed the same month, each one before a confirmed buy: 250 bitcoin ahead of Oct. 12, then 267 bitcoin ahead of Oct. 195. PANews tracked the same habit. Strategy, its report said, tends to disclose a purchase the day after Saylor posts the tracker3. The record now shows three Sundays, three filings and three small purchases, matching the pattern readers now expect.

That pattern makes Sunday's post read as a signal more than a surprise. A chart alone confirms zero purchase. Monday's filing with the SEC does that job. It carries the exact coin count, the price paid and the funding source behind it.

Saylor Says a New Bull Market Has Begun

Strategy posted a record quarter three days before Saylor's hint. Operating income hit $20.91 billion, and net income reached $19.53 billion6. Saylor framed his Sunday post inside that same report. “We're at the beginning of the next bitcoin bull market. Banks are embracing bitcoin, bitcoin's dominance among digital assets is growing, institutional demand is back, and bitcoin price is 21% above its 200-week moving average,” Saylor said.

His case rests on that quarter's own numbers. Strategy's bitcoin stake grew 26% since the start of the year, funded through stock sales and cash on hand2. Saylor has kept every coin the company bought since 2020, through five years of sharp price swings. A fresh purchase would extend a pattern five years deep, built on the conviction that buying beats selling, year after year.

Why the Pattern Might Break This Time

Independent analyst Shanaka Anslem Perera reads the same quarter differently. Strategy raised $5.41 billion in new shares during the third quarter. Only 9.5% of that money went toward bitcoin7. “The third-quarter Strategy raised billions by selling shares, but most of it was used to replenish cash reserves and satisfy preferred shareholders. Raising funds does not equal buying Bitcoin,” Perera said.

The size of recent purchases backs his skepticism. Strategy bought more than 20,000 bitcoin in some weeks earlier in 2026. October's three weeks totaled under 900 bitcoin combined, a fraction of the pace Perera flags as the real test5.

Three straight Sunday charts preceded three bitcoin buys, before Saylor's Nov. 1 post

Nov. 11, 2026MSCI rules on Strategy's index spot

Two more facts cut the same way. MSCI will rule by Nov. 11 on whether Strategy keeps its spot in the firm's global stock indexes8. Funds that track those indexes buy and sell to match them automatically. A removal would force many of them to sell MSTR shares at once, whatever Strategy's own bitcoin plans look like that week. The ruling could also push Strategy itself toward a sale of bitcoin, the opposite of what Sunday's chart hinted.

A Jumpy Binance Day Ran Alongside It

Saylor's post landed inside a noisy morning for crypto on X. Binance had reopened withdrawals three days after a $6.3 billion hack9. Phase one began at 06:00 UTC on Nov. 1, covering bitcoin, ether, USDT, USDC, BNB and XRP. “Binance has now covered approximately 95% of the impacted amount, up from 90% in our prior update,” the exchange said.

Binance's own numbers showed the strain. Depositors pulled $4.65 billion out between 06:00 and 15:30 UTC, against $1.01 billion in deposits10. Net outflows reached $3.64 billion, 2.1% of the exchange's $171 billion in assets11. Binance co-CEO Richard Teng said the exchange had replenished 90% of the stolen funds and would cover the rest.

A separate claim spread faster than any of those numbers. An account called AlphaWire posted that a Binance engineer had a romantic relationship with a North Korean spy. The same post claimed the engineer left a laptop unattended the day of the hack12. Doomer, another account, repeated the claim within the hour and tagged researcher ZachXBT as its source13. Yi He, Binance's co-founder, replied directly to AlphaWire within three hours. Her reply called the story dramatic and false, and credited the ZachXBT attribution to AlphaWire alone1415.

A fabricated screenshot made the rounds that same morning, claiming Binance offered $150 to users hit by the withdrawal freeze. Binance called the image doctored. "This is false information. The screenshot is digitally altered," the exchange wrote1617.

Four posts moved a jumpy market in one morning. Each one fit in a single sentence or two, the same size as Saylor's own hint.

Strategy's own stock trades under those same jumpy conditions. Shares of MSTR move with bitcoin's price most days, and Nasdaq's own venue broadcasts that swing live to traders every morning the market opens.

      By the numbers

      • 848,517 bitcoin: Strategy's total holdings, at an average cost of $75,437 each2.
      • $77,804: bitcoin's price at 12:44 UTC on Nov. 1, 20262.
      • 11,990 likes and 689 replies: the count on Saylor's post by 23:00 UTC1.
      • 334, 250 and 267 bitcoin: Strategy's three weekly purchases in October, each confirmed in an SEC filing45.
      • $3.64 billion: Binance's net outflow the same morning, 2.1% of its assets11.
      • 95%: the share of the $6.3 billion Binance hack the exchange says it has covered9.
      • Nov. 11, 2026: the date MSCI rules on Strategy's spot in its stock indexes8.

      What to watch

Watch Monday's SEC filing for the size of any new purchase. A small buy would support Perera's reading over Saylor's. Watch Nov. 11 next, when MSCI rules on Strategy's spot in its indexes. That ruling settles whether Strategy keeps buying bitcoin or starts selling it.
