On May 18, 2020, the Tezos Foundation posted that its "current Tezos Foundation President, Ryan Jesperson , is not seeking re-election." The same post said that Hubertus Thonhauser , “who has been a Council member since April 2018, will serve as the new Chairman of the Council,” and that the Council had appointed Alice Lloyd George and Olivier Jaillon as members. Jesperson had taken the presidency in February 2018, and Reuters reported that month that he had created a rival T2 foundation earlier in February in protest at the feud between the Tezos founders and the Foundation's first president.
