The take

Michael Saylor runs Strategy. It holds more Bitcoin than any other public company. He posted a weekly update on X. Strategy bought 267 more Bitcoin this week. The average price was about $82,900 a coin. Strategy now holds 848,517 Bitcoin in total. That update landed next to real risk. MSCI builds the stock indexes many funds track. MSCI is a private firm. It picks which stocks big index funds must hold. MSCI set new rules on October 15. Those rules could drop Strategy from its indexes in November. Funds that track MSCI would then have to sell MSTR shares. Saylor called the plan a threat to fair markets. He kept buying anyway. Strategy also grew its stock buyback plan. The cap rose from $2 billion to $3 billion this week. Strategy spent $193 million of that buying back its own preferred stock. The post drew 8,720 likes within hours. It pulled 483 replies from traders and fans. Some praised the conviction. Others asked how Strategy would pay its bills if the MSCI cut lands hard. The company says it still holds $5.3 billion in cash and other assets. That cushion matters more now. A fund exit could force heavy selling of MSTR stock. Heavy selling could push the share price down fast. A falling share price makes new stock sales harder for Strategy. Harder stock sales could slow Bitcoin buying later. Saylor's bet says Bitcoin's price will cover any gap. The record so far shows steady buying, week after week. Three billion dollars is now set aside just for buybacks. Traders on X mostly cheered the purchase. A smaller group called the timing reckless. The buy settles little between the two camps. It shows Strategy has yet to blink.

The take

ZachXBT is a known crypto sleuth. He tracks money moving through wallets. He works alone, reading blockchain records by hand. His past finds have led to real busts. His new report names a service. It is called FreedomXMR. It runs inside Hyperliquid Core. That is a trading platform. Hyperliquid lets anyone list a new token fast. That speed draws builders and traders alike. It also draws people who want to hide money. FreedomXMR lets users swap crypto for Monero. Monero hides the sender. It hides the receiver too. It hides the amount sent. ZachXBT checked deposits over $10,000. He traced more than $20 million to crime. The money came from hacks and scams. Victims included Axelar, Fetch.ai, and Gamdom. ZachXBT says 87 percent of the money is dirty. FreedomXMR's owners bought their ticker at an auction. They paid 518.28 HYPE for it in July. That cost about $28,000 then. ZachXBT sent his data to the Hyperliquid team. Hyperliquid stayed quiet in public so far. BeInCrypto shared the find on X. The post drew just 7 likes. It got 4 replies. Yet the story spread fast across crypto news sites. Many outlets ran the same numbers within hours. That gap says something about crypto news today. One post can carry small numbers of its own. The real reach lives in the retelling. Crypto's biggest platforms still host crime tools. Hyperliquid's auction lets anyone claim a name. Buyers face little check first. That openness builds fast growth. It also builds blind spots. Open access cuts both ways here. The same rails that move stolen funds move clean ones too. Watch where Hyperliquid goes next. A platform that polices itself still needs real proof.

A top crypto sleuth shows dirty money still moves easily through new trading tools.

The take

Strive is a bitcoin company built by Matt Cole. He is its chairman and chief executive. Strive just closed a big stock sale. It sold new shares called SATS. The sale raised $630 million in cash. That closed on October 20. SATS pays a 15 percent yearly dividend. SATS dividends pay out on most business days. The first payment comes on November 9. That schedule beats the usual one check a quarter. It also means Strive must manage cash closely every week. Cole called it "a critical milestone in our strategy to maximize long-term total returns." Before that sale, Strive kept buying bitcoin fast. Over three days last week, it bought 1,223 bitcoin. The average price was $81,734 a coin. Strive now holds 36,818 bitcoin in total. That makes it one of the largest corporate holders anywhere. Cole posted the update on X himself. The post drew 2,084 likes. It pulled 95 replies from investors. Strive left the use of the new cash open. Some of it may buy more bitcoin. Some may fund buybacks of its own stock. Strive already runs smaller buyback plans for other shares. This is Strive's third such stock sale this year. Each one raised more than the last. Rivals like Strategy run a similar playbook. They raise cash, then buy bitcoin, then raise more. The model leans on investors keeping faith in bitcoin's price. If the price falls hard, these sales get harder to pull off. For now, demand still looks strong. The SATS sale grew bigger before it even closed. That means buyers asked for more shares than Strive first offered. Crypto investors read that demand as a vote of confidence in the trade.

A second bitcoin company races to raise cash and buy coins before a deadline.

The take

Anza builds the core software behind Solana. Solana is a fast chain for trading and payments. Anza just set a hard date for a big change. The change is called Alpenglow. It goes live on October 21. The switch happens at about 14:00 UTC. Right now, Solana confirms a trade in about 12.8 seconds. After the switch, that drops to about 150 milliseconds. That is almost 100 times faster. The team posted the news on X. The post called it a 24 hour countdown. It told users to turn on notifications. The post drew 258 likes. It pulled 52 replies from builders and traders. Alpenglow replaces an older system called TowerBFT. TowerBFT has run Solana's voting since launch. The new system is called Votor. It changes how validators agree on each block. The switch happens in a single slot. One moment, the network runs the old rules. The next moment, it runs the new ones. Teams spent about eighteen months on this change. Validators had to get ready ahead of time. Anza tested the switch for months on a test network. Some chains delay big switches for months after they are ready. Solana chose to move fast once tests cleared. SOL traded near $106 as the countdown began. Solana has had network hiccups in the past. Faster finality should make those spread less. Traders who swap fast on Solana want more speed. Game studios on Solana want fast answers too. This speed could help Solana compete for trading and payment work. It could also raise the stakes if the switch goes wrong. A clean cutover would mark a rare feat for a chain this size. Anza calls this the biggest change in Solana's history. Many in crypto plan to watch the switch live.

What it says about us

Solana's core team bets a one slot switch will make the chain feel instant.

The take

Collector Crypt sells packs of trading cards on Solana. Think Pokémon cards and sports cards. The cards live on chain but tie to real ones. Users open packs. They trade cards. Or they mail in cards for the real thing. Collector Crypt runs on Solana, a blockchain built for speed. Trading card fans need little crypto knowledge to use it. That ease helps the app reach people past the usual crypto crowd. On October 20, the app had its best day in over a year. It earned about $1.4 million that day. That beat Hyperliquid for one day. It beat Papertrade too. Both are big earners on Solana most days. SolanaFloor posted the news on X. The post drew 27 likes. It pulled 9 replies in its first hours. A new deal fueled the surge. Pump.fun is a popular trading app. It added Collector Crypt packs on October 19. Users bought about $2 million in packs through Pump.fun on day one. The CARDS token powers the platform. It traded near $0.35. It rose almost 11 percent in a day. Hyperliquid and Papertrade usually top Solana's revenue charts. Both run fast trading tools for serious traders. Collector Crypt sells a hobby people already love instead. Card collecting draws casual fans too. That mix of fun and chance keeps packs selling fast. Each pack offers a small chance at a rare card. A big quarter already backs the trend. Collector Crypt took in $433.5 million in pack sales last quarter. A small group of big spenders drove most of that total. Just 548 wallets covered 83 percent of the spending. One lesson stands out here. On Solana this week, cards beat trading. Old hobbies still pull in real money.
