The take
Binance posted its own hack report on Nov. 3. The report looks back at the Oct. 29 theft. Hackers took $6.34 billion that day. Binance calls it a long, quiet campaign. The report says the plan began in June. A Binance engineer searched for an AI coding tool. The attacker had built a fake copy of that tool. The engineer installed the fake copy by mistake. Binance caught the odd activity fast. It swapped out the engineer's device. The attacker still watched that team from the outside. In September, a second worker got a fake job offer. The offer led to a staged online interview. That interview handed over a bad coding test. The test held hidden attacker code inside it. By Oct. 20, the attacker reached two more devices. The attacker then used Binance's own AI tool against it. On Oct. 29, that access opened the wallet theft.
Binance says it has replenished 98% of the stolen funds. It paid the bill from its own money. Partners like Tether and Circle helped freeze $2.85 billion. Binance also says it stopped 57 suspected North Korea attacks in 2026. The post drew 6,629 likes fast. It drew 723 replies too.
North Korea denies any role in the hack. The FBI still blames a group it calls TraderTraitor. BNB, Binance's own coin, traded near $700 after the report. The price held steady through the news.
A fake job offer is an old trick with a new target here. One quiet download in June led to a huge loss in October. Binance wants the full story told in public. Co-CEO Richard Teng said the lessons reach past Binance alone. Every job offer and every download now carries that same risk. Crypto people read this report as a warning more than an apology. The clearest sign of trust is a number anyone can check. Binance just handed the industry one more number to check.

A crypto account named ashen posted a joke on Nov. 3. The post reacted to Binance's new hack report. Binance said hackers took $6.34 billion on Oct. 29. Ashen's post picked one detail from that report. It said the hack began with a tool for coding help. The post called that tool a way to vibecode. Vibecode is slang for writing code fast with an AI helper. The joke made a serious report sound almost silly. It drew 8,536 likes fast. It drew 193 replies too. That beat the like count on Binance's own report post.
Binance's report named a real, narrow mistake. An engineer searched for an AI coding tool back in June. The attacker had placed a fake copy of that tool online. The fake copy let the attacker into Binance's systems. Binance has since replenished 98% of the stolen funds. It also says it stopped 57 suspected North Korea attacks this year.
A joke can carry a hard truth inside it. Here, the joke and the report tell the same story. Both point to one small, human choice. That choice opened a $6.34 billion hole. Crypto people often trust a joke over a press release. A joke feels honest in a way a report rarely does. Ashen's post turned one technical mistake into a line anyone can repeat. That line will likely outlive the report itself online. It may also outlive the apology that came with it.
Other hacks have started with a shortcut this small. More will probably follow it. The joke's reach shows how fast a hard story turns into a laugh line. Crypto people make sense of fear through humor first. Then the humor spreads further than the warning ever could.

The take
The CFTC made a big move on Nov. 3. Americans can now trade a new kind of bet. The bet tracks one stock's price. The contract keeps running, day after day. Traders call this a perpetual future. Crypto traders have used this tool for years. Wall Street just got the same tool for stocks. The Hyperliquid Policy Center posted about the news. It said two US agencies will watch these new contracts together. Those agencies are the CFTC and the SEC. The post drew 1,168 likes fast.
Hyperliquid already runs big money through this same bet type. Its trading volume hit $1.10 billion on Nov. 3. Its futures volume alone hit $2.64 billion that day. All crypto perpetual bets moved $630 billion in the past month. CFTC Chair Michael Selig spoke about the new rule. He said it keeps trading inside US borders. He said offshore trading often skips US rules. The HYPE token traded near $85 after the news. That price had slipped about 2% the day before.
Crypto built this bet type first. Wall Street just copied the idea for stocks. The new rule left Hyperliquid unnamed. The timing still matters a lot for Hyperliquid. President Trump talked in August about bringing Hyperliquid under US rules. One crypto tool just got a stamp built for stocks too. That stamp may pull more big money toward this bet type. It may also pull more eyes toward the crypto firms that built it first. Crypto people see this as one more sign. Their tools are moving into the main financial world. A bet built for crypto traders now shapes how Wall Street bets too. Big banks spent years calling perpetual futures too risky for stocks. One regulator just disagreed with that old view. The next fight will be over which exchanges get to list the new contracts first. Hyperliquid wants a seat at that table.

Pyth Network posted a short update on Nov. 3. It said a Kalshi vote index runs on Pyth data. Kalshi is a market where people trade on real events. The index is called KPOW Midterms. It blends 13 election races into one score. House control counts for 20% of that score. Senate control adds 25% more. Pyth posts a fresh number every 30 seconds. Every contract on that index settles with Pyth's number. The post drew 192 likes fast.
Pyth is a firm that feeds price data to crypto apps. Its October report shows growth past simple price feeds. Pyth's yearly revenue hit $13.67 million in October. That is up 18.9% from September. A newer product called Pyth Indices made $2.88 million of that total. The PYTH token traded near $0.065 after the report. That price rose about 4% in a day.
Election night usually runs through TV anchors and exit polls. This year, part of it runs through crypto math instead. Pyth skips calling the race itself. It only posts a number other people trade on. That is a small, careful job. It still puts a crypto tool inside a big US election night. Many crypto people cheer any sign their tools reach past crypto. Other people may worry about mixing crypto math with elections. Pyth's post stayed plain about its one job. It names that job and stops there. That plain, narrow claim stands out in a crowd that often oversells its reach. That may be why this small post still earned real attention today. Most crypto projects chase headlines about price or hype. Pyth chased a quiet role inside the data behind a real vote count instead. That quiet role may age better than a loud one.
