“Bitget hired former Binance executive Min Lin as chief business officer on October 28, 2024, in a release that counted 45 million users. Does a seat built around one region's growth answer for the whole exchange's next phase?”

Bitget named Min Lin chief business officer on October 28, 2024. Lin moved over from Binance, where he had run Latin America as regional vice president1. Bitget's own release, dated from Victoria, Seychelles, called Lin a "Former Binance and Goldman Sachs executive" brought on "to drive growth and expand business in key markets". Finance Magnates reported on October 28, 2024, that Lin would focus on helping Bitget "accelerate its global expansion"2.

      The move

Bitget's announcement credited Lin with a specific prior role. It named him “Regional Vice President for Latin America and Head of Business Development at Binance,” where he "played a pivotal role in driving the company's rapid growth" and “was also instrumental in securing licensing agreements and fostering relationships with regulators”1. Before Binance, Lin spent more than five years as an Executive Director in the Global Markets Division at Goldman Sachs.

Gracy Chen, Bitget's chief executive, named the fit directly. "We are thrilled to welcome Min to our leadership team," Chen said. “His impressive track record in scaling cryptocurrency businesses aligns seamlessly with our strategic vision. Min's insights will be instrumental as we pursue our expansion goals in critical markets.”1 Lin answered in kind. “I am eager to embark on this journey with Bitget at such an exciting time,” he said, adding that he looked “forward to collaborating with this talented team as we build an ecosystem trusted by millions.”

      The exchange Lin joined

Bitget's release placed the hire inside a specific growth record. The exchange said it had become the fourth-largest crypto trading platform globally by volume over the prior six years. Traffic rose 50 percent in the first half of 2024, and net asset inflows surpassed $700 million in that period1. The release pointed to Latin America by name, citing a 98 percent increase in active users there in 2024, the region Lin had covered at Binance.

A second former Binance executive was already on Bitget's leadership team. Finance Magnates noted that Bitget's chief legal officer, Hon Ng, had also arrived from Binance and had told the publication in September 2024 that "strong compliance doesn't have to stifle innovation"2. Lin and Ng both came to Bitget's leadership team from Binance.

      What the record shows

Only Bitget's own account and Finance Magnates' report, both dated October 28, 2024, could be verified for this hire12. Both describe the same mandate. Lin was to use his Latin America and business development background to expand Bitget's user base and licensing footprint in the exchange's priority markets.
