The move
Cryptopolitan's report, citing MEXC's own press release, described Hsueh's background as spanning finance, consulting and technology2. She had previously run Morph, a Layer 2 network, and helped grow Phemex, a cryptocurrency exchange, "into a global player from its inception". Tracy Jin, chief operating officer of MEXC, endorsed the appointment in that release. “Her proven track record of building, scaling, and advising leading Web3 businesses makes her an invaluable addition to our leadership team as we continue to evolve into a global ecosystem,” Jin said. Hsueh described her own view of the exchange's direction in the same release. “Over the years, MEXC has evolved from being just an exchange to becoming a comprehensive platform focused on innovation and growth,” she said. “I am excited to contribute to its transformation into a Web3 ecosystem that empowers users, partners, and institutions around the globe,” she added.
MEXC before and after the hire
More than 40 million users across 170-plus countries already used MEXC before Hsueh's arrival, Cryptopolitan reported2. Cryptopolitan ranked MEXC among the industry's most liquid and fastest-growing exchanges at the time. The outlet wrote that MEXC's leadership expansion fit a wider pattern among exchanges “doubling down on security and compliance amid heightened regulatory attention and rising user expectations”. Those exchanges were diversifying “beyond spot and futures trading into offering services across tokenization, institutional asset custody, payment solutions, and the decentralized ecosystem infrastructure,” Cryptopolitan wrote. Hsueh's job, per the release, is to find new global growth, coordinate resources across MEXC's core business functions and lift its global brand.
What came next
Within weeks of joining, Hsueh was apologizing for MEXC in public. CoinDesk reported on April 8, 2026, that Hsueh had publicly apologized in October 2025. The dispute involved a trader who said MEXC had frozen $3 million of his funds under what CoinDesk called "opaque risk-control rules"3. She wrote on X, “We fucked up. We apologize to The White Whale, and his money is already been released”. That same report said MEXC had named a new chief executive, Vugar Usi. Usi called compliance readiness "one of the key missing points in MEXC's growth". He said the exchange had "kick-started" talks with regulators in Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. MEXC still held second place in exchange trading volume at the end of 2025, with a 5 percent market share, CoinDesk Research data showed.
