The promotion
Fang co-founded Lumina before joining BitGo. Lumina built portfolio management tools for institutions holding digital assets, and BitGo bought the company in early 2020, the release said1. Before Lumina, Fang managed product teams at Zenefits and at Microsoft. That record spans more than a decade in fintech. Tsou brought a different record. He spent more than 20 years in engineering, about 10 of them in fintech. His most recent post was senior director of engineering at Affirm, where he led loan servicing, payments processing and international expansion. Earlier, Tsou led engineering teams at Block that covered data, enterprise merchants and gift cards, the release said.
Belshe framed the pair of moves as a response to market conditions. “This market environment offers an opportunity to build and it is important to promote and bring top talent to lead our teams, product roadmap and take BitGo to the next level,” Belshe said in the release1. He added that BitGo had “worked diligently to build and launch institutional-grade web3, DeFi and custodial solutions,” calling that work what "the industry needs more than ever" for fiduciaries and retail investors alike.
Before and after at BitGo
The release tied the appointments to a run of recent milestones. BitGo had raised its cold storage insurance limit from $100 million to $250 million. The company had added support for currencies including Solana, Polkadot and Near1. It launched what it called the first institutional-grade NFT custody solution in the United States. BitGo had also hired Ira Wurcel as general counsel and Adam Sporn as head of U.S. institutional sales. Its custody business had expanded into Spain, Poland, Italy and Germany. BitGo described itself then as a company that had served institutional clients exclusively since 2013 and processed about 20 percent of all global Bitcoin transactions.
What came next
BitGo later went public under the name BitGo Holdings, Inc., trading as BTGO3. A Form 4 filing reported by StockTitan on September 6, 2026, lists Fang as BitGo Holdings' chief revenue officer and a company director. The filing shows Fang relinquishing 220 shares of Class A common stock on September 6, 2026, valued at $7.30 a share, to cover tax withholding on vested restricted stock units. After that transaction, Fang held 1,256,704 Class A shares directly, the filing said. The filing and StockTitan's report leave the title change unexplained.
