Bybit announced on March 7, 2026, that Co-CEO Helen Liu would leave the exchange on April 30, 2026. The exit comes "to begin a new chapter as she pursues her entrepreneurial ambitions," the company's press release states1. FinanceFeeds independently reported the departure on March 9, 2026, describing it as “the end of a five-year period in which she held several senior leadership roles at the cryptocurrency exchange”2. Liu had joined Bybit in 2020 as vice president of human resources. She rose to Co-CEO in 2025, Bybit's release states.

The move
Bybit co-founder and CEO Ben Zhou thanked Liu in the release. “Over the past five years, Helen has been an extraordinary partner in building Bybit into the global platform it is today,” Zhou said. “From shaping our culture and strengthening our leadership team to guiding the company through moments of rapid growth and industry challenges, Helen has led with dedication, empathy, and a deep sense of purpose,” he said1. Liu described her own departure in similar terms. “Bybit has been an incredible platform for growth, and I'm deeply grateful for the trust, opportunities, and experiences I've had here,” Liu said.
Before and after the move
Liu's path at Bybit ran through several titles. Vice president of human resources came first in 2020. Marketing duties and the chief of staff post came next, then chief operating officer in 2022, before her 2025 appointment as Co-CEO, FinanceFeeds reported2. Bybit's release counted more than 82 million users across more than 181 countries and regions as of March 20261. FinanceFeeds reported that Bybit kept its leadership announcement limited to Liu's exit alone. Existing leadership teams would keep overseeing operations across regions and product divisions, the outlet reported.
What to watch
Bybit set April 30, 2026, as Liu's last day and named Zhou as its chief executive in the same release1. Watch for a Bybit announcement naming a new co-CEO or confirming that Zhou runs the exchange alone. An announcement naming Liu's new venture would also test whether her "entrepreneurial journey," as Bybit's release called it, stays inside the digital asset industry she spent five years building, or moves outside it.
