On September 21, 2020, the Cardano Foundation named Frederik Gregaard its first chief executive officer. The announcement carried a Zürich dateline and put his start in the following month. Gregaard came from PwC Switzerland, where he led the Digital Financial Services division, after 17 years in professional services and finance. The Foundation he joined had 30 employees from 23 nationalities. Its 2025 annual report counts more than 100 colleagues.
