Taylor most recently worked as chief marketing officer for the Cardano Foundation. There, he unified its brand and marketing work, IT Brief Asia reported2. The Alliance put four groups under his marketing mandate: Fetch.ai, SingularityNET, Ocean Protocol and CUDOS, the press release said1. Those four groups share a token economy and an open governance model, aimed at keeping AGI development "democratic, transparent, and free from centralised control," the release said.
What the appointment means for the Alliance
Ben Goertzel is chief executive of the ASI Alliance and chief scientist at SingularityNET. He framed the hire around Taylor's range. “His leadership in navigating the evolving crypto, AI and Web3 ecosystems will be invaluable as we execute the next phases of our roadmap toward beneficial decentralized AGI and ASI,” Goertzel said1. He also pointed to storytelling as the job's core task. “As we move forward to roll out one after another decentralized AI product and build our user base as we move toward our ambitious AGI goals, David will play a critical role in helping us tell our story clearly, credibly and globally,” Goertzel added.
Taylor set out his own view of the job in the same release. “I'm excited to help elevate the ASI Alliance's mission by connecting with developers, communities and institutions worldwide through strategy, storytelling and trust,” Taylor said1. IT Brief Asia tied the appointment to a wider wave of AI investment. The outlet cited a $70 billion AI and energy plan from Donald Trump as part of that same trend2.
What the record shows
Taylor's own appointment release named Fetch.ai, SingularityNET, Ocean Protocol and CUDOS as the four groups sharing his marketing mandate1. IT Brief Asia reported that the hire came as governments and firms raised their own spending on artificial intelligence2.
