“Jeremy Fox-Geen, who helped lead Circle through its $1.05 billion initial public offering in June 2025, said on Sept. 25, 2026, that he will step down as chief financial officer by the end of that December. Does a CFO's exit soon after a milestone he helped deliver read as mission accomplished or as a warning sign?”

Circle Internet Group announced on Sept. 25, 2026, that Jeremy Fox-Geen intends to step down as Chief Financial Officer1. He had held the role for more than five years. Fox-Geen will stay through December 2026 unless Circle names a successor sooner. Circle said it has already begun a search with an executive search firm. Fox-Geen joined Circle in May 20212. He helped lead the company through its $1.05 billion initial public offering in June 2025, CFO Dive reported.

      The move

Jeremy Allaire, Circle's co-founder, chairman and chief executive, credited Fox-Geen with building the company's finance organization through turmoil and growth alike. “Jeremy has played a key role in building Circle into the company it is today,” Allaire said. “He brought strategic insight, financial leadership, and operating discipline through periods of both market turmoil and tremendous growth. We are grateful for all he has done for Circle. We wish him the best”1. Fox-Geen's own statement pointed toward a pause rather than a new job. “It has been a privilege to work at a company that combines a compelling mission with an unmatched market opportunity and an extraordinarily talented team. I am proud of what we have built together. Having achieved many milestones, it is now the right time for me to step down and take a break before my next chapter,” he said.

Circle's finance seat before and after

CFO Dive, citing Circle's release and a securities filing, reported that Fox-Geen will keep his $500,000 base salary through his departure2. He stays eligible for an annual incentive award equal to 110 percent of that base, and his equity awards keep vesting. After his resignation date, he is due $1.05 million in cash, paid in monthly installments over 12 months. He also gets accelerated vesting on two more months of restricted stock, CFO Dive reported. The outlet noted that Fox-Geen, an alum of McKinsey & Company and PricewaterhouseCoopers, had called the 2025 IPO an "accelerant" for Circle's global plans at the time. For the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Circle reported $48 million in net income, up $530 million from the same quarter a year earlier, according to its earnings report as cited by CFO Dive.

      What to watch

Circle's own release set the deadline for its search1. Fox-Geen stays through the end of December 2026 unless a successor is appointed sooner. Whoever Circle names will inherit a finance department built around a company that went public in June 2025. The stablecoin issuer's next quarterly earnings call is the likely place for a named replacement to surface.
