The move
White arrives from CoreCard Corporation, a payment technology company. He served as CFO and corporate secretary there for more than seven years, Bakkt's filing said1. CFO Dive reported that Euronet Worldwide acquired CoreCard in October 2025. White is a certified public accountant who also worked at Equifax, Humana and Deloitte & Touche, the outlet reported2.
Akshay Naheta, Bakkt's chief executive, tied the hire to the company's direction. “Matt brings exactly the profile we want in a CFO for the next phase of Bakkt,” Naheta said. “He combines deep public company discipline with technology and payments experience, strategic thinking and an execution-oriented approach to finance.”1 White described his own goal in the same release. “I am excited to lead a finance organization that matches that ambition, one that is disciplined, technology-forward and deeply connected to the business.”
Bakkt before and after
The company sold its loyalty and custody businesses in 2025, CFO Dive reported, as part of a pivot “from a crypto trading and loyalty platform to a stablecoin infrastructure provider.” Bakkt also completed its acquisition of Distributed Technologies Research, a stablecoin firm Naheta founded, in April 20262. Alexander will advise Bakkt's general counsel and CFO through December 31. She will receive consulting fees at an annualized rate of $400,000, the SEC filing CFO Dive cited said. Bakkt reported net income of nearly $81 million for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, against a net loss of about $15 million a year earlier. Revenue fell 70 percent to about $170 million from $568 million, CFO Dive reported.
What to watch
White's pay ties him to Bakkt's stock. He will get 90,000 restricted stock units and 60,000 options with a $10 exercise price, vesting over three years, the filing said1. A later quarterly filing naming stablecoin or Bakkt Agent revenue would test whether White's payments background moves those lines. Alexander's advisory role runs through year-end, and her exit at that date would close the transition CFO Dive described.
