“A chief executive left his seat the same day the board handed it to its own chairman, with a single sentence of thanks on the record. Does one sentence settle what a departure meant?”

Wayne Huo left the chief executive role at Amber International on August 21, 2025. The company's board replaced him with chairman Michael Wu, according to the exhibit Amber International filed with the SEC1. Wu “agreed to take on these expanded responsibilities beyond his current role as Chairman of the Board,” the filing said.

      The move

Wu's own statement is the only record of Huo's exit on the page. “On behalf of the Board, I would also like to thank Mr. Wayne Huo for his leadership and contribution to Amber International during his tenure as CEO,” Wu said in the filing1. That sentence closed out Huo's tenure, and the filing kept the reason for his departure to itself.

The same filing paired the exit with two additions elsewhere in the company. It appointed Luke Li and Vicky Wang as new directors "with immediate effect." It separately named Wang president, strengthening what the filing called the company's "senior management team"1. citybiz republished the release in full the same day, matching every line2.

      Amber International before and after

Huo had run Amber International through the period the filing covers1. The company operated under the "Amber Premium" brand, as an institutional crypto services subsidiary of Amber Group. His exit left Wu holding both the chairman's seat and the chief executive title. The filing stated that combination plainly, in two separate sentences. Wang moved up from Amber Group partner, a role she had held since 2023, into the dual posts of director and president.

      What came next

Huo's name stopped appearing in Amber International's later filings. A Form 6-K the company filed with the SEC on September 28, 2026 listed Wu, Wang and four other directors standing for shareholder approval, a roster that excluded Huo entirely3. That filing also disclosed a proposed award of 23,469,189 Class B ordinary shares to Wu, which would lift his voting power to approximately 82.3 percent of the company's outstanding shares. The company had renamed itself AMBR by then and described itself as a builder of "specialized AI agents for finance, enterprise, and growth".
