Amber International's board named Vicky Wang president on August 21, 20251. The Nasdaq-listed company put Michael Wu in the chief executive chair that same day and gave Wang a board seat. Its release called the moves part of a push "to support the Company's business growth and corporate strategies".

      The move

Wu, already the company's chairman, welcomed Wang and a second new director in the release. “We are pleased to welcome Mr. Luke Li and Ms. Vicky Wang to the Board. Their expertise and experience will make them valuable additions as we continue to drive the Company's expansion and strengthen its leadership at the intersection of traditional and decentralized finance,” Wu, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Amber International, said in the release1.

Wang's resume in that release traced four years inside Amber Group. She served as sales team leader from 2021 to 2023, driving revenue growth and advancing partnerships1. Amber Group made her a partner in 2023. From there, she led the group's digital wealth management business and oversaw global sales, marketing and investor relations. The release credited her with a "pivotal role in building Amber Premium," shaping its service model and market positioning. She holds a Master of Business Administration from Imperial College London. citybiz matched the release word for word on August 21, 20252.

      Amber International before and after

Before the appointment, Amber International ran under the brand name "Amber Premium," a unit of Amber Group that sold crypto services to institutions1. Wu had held only the chairman's seat. The board handed him the chief executive title too, replacing Wayne Huo. Wang moved from a group-level partner role into a named officer and director of the Nasdaq-listed parent. Fellow new director Luke Li, an Amber Group co-founder, joined the board on August 21, 2025.

      What came next

Wang's title held for more than a year. Amber International filed a Form 6-K with the SEC on September 28, 2026, and that filing named her the company's director and president since August 2025, crediting her with leading "strategic growth, commercial development, and platform evolution"3. By then the Nasdaq company had renamed itself AMBR and begun building "specialized AI agents for finance, enterprise, and growth," the same filing said. Shareholders faced a vote to confirm her board seat at a meeting set for October 23, 2026, alongside four other director picks. A separate plan on that same ballot would raise Wu's voting power from about 74.1 percent to about 82.3 percent through a new share award.
