“Polymarket, a prediction market still rebuilding its U.S. business after a 2022 CFTC settlement, hired former Amazon chief financial officer Warren Jenson on Sept. 10, 2026. Does a veteran public-company CFO point toward Polymarket going public itself?”

Polymarket named Warren Jenson its first chief financial officer on Sept. 10, 20261. Jenson had served as CFO at Amazon, Electronic Arts, Delta Air Lines and NBC earlier in his career, and he reports to founder and chief executive Shayne Coplan, Polymarket said in its announcement. The hire came as Polymarket worked to scale its Commodity Futures Trading Commission-regulated U.S. exchange, CoinDesk reported on Sept. 10, 20262. Polymarket had been largely shut out of the United States since a 2022 settlement with the CFTC required it to block American users, CoinDesk noted.

      The move

Coplan called the hire a response to Polymarket's scale. “We're assembling the team to match the opportunity in front of us. Warren has led finance at some of the most consequential companies in the world, and his experience will be critical to everything we build from here,” Coplan said in the release1. CoinDesk reported that Coplan had separately called Jenson a "true legend" in a post on X2. Jenson framed the move around the size of the market Polymarket has built. “Polymarket created a massive new global market category. The opportunity ahead of us is enormous,” Jenson said. “I'm joining Shayne and the leadership team to put the capital strategy and operating discipline in place to move quickly at scale and continue to push the frontier of this industry,” he said.

As CFO, Jenson will lead Polymarket's finance organization and set its capital strategy and long-range planning, the release said1. Before Polymarket, he served as president and CFO at Nielsen and as president at LiveRamp, where he ran its international expansion, CoinDesk reported2. He sits on the boards of Ripple, Dropbox and DigitalOcean, according to the release.

      Polymarket's position

Polymarket lets users trade on the outcomes of future events. Trades record on the Polygon blockchain, CoinDesk reported2. The platform drew wide attention during the 2024 U.S. presidential election through its election markets. Polymarket has since pushed into sports, putting it up against DraftKings and FanDuel, CoinDesk said. Jenson holds bachelor's and master's degrees in accounting from Brigham Young University, the release said1.

      What to watch

Jenson's own words point to a specific test. He described his task as building "capital strategy and operating discipline" at scale, so watch for Polymarket to announce new funding, a banking partnership or expanded U.S. market access in the months after his Sept. 10, 2026 start2. A public-company CFO at a firm still rebuilding its American footprint is itself a marker worth tracking against whatever Polymarket discloses next about its finances.
