The move
Coelho's path to the role ran through nearly a decade with the project. He met Graph co-founder Yaniv Tal in 2017 at a co-working space in San Francisco. Coelho became The Graph's first hire there, and later joined Edge & Node, the blog post said1. Earlier still, Coelho had founded and exited two technology startups as CEO. That run began with an application development company he co-founded in the late 1990s, building solutions for Fortune 500 clients. Coelho pointed to continuity in the role. “We've built through bear markets with the same passion that sparked the project at its inception,” he said. Kline stayed connected after the handoff. She remained on the Edge & Node board, the blog post said.
Before and after at Edge & Node
Edge & Node's blog post called the Sunrise initiative, completed under Kline, a "pivotal, large-scale" project that "cemented our place as a cornerstone of the web3 movement"1. Coelho's Edge & Node promised to stay "laser-focused on unleashing" the capabilities of subgraphs, indexing and decentralized infrastructure, while doubling down on research, community programs and partnerships. Coelho described his own outlook on the work ahead. “As the ecosystem expands, we'll continue to prioritize developer experience, education, and world-class support,” he said.
What came next
Coelho remained Edge & Node's chief executive as the company moved toward AI infrastructure. CoinDesk reported on Oct. 30, 2025, that Edge & Node had launched ampersend, a platform for coordinating payments between autonomous AI agents3. Edge & Node built the platform with Coinbase, Google and the Ethereum Foundation's decentralized AI team, the outlet said. CoinDesk identified Coelho as Edge & Node's CEO and quoted him on the reasoning behind it. He said the company was “preparing for a future where digital agents handle a large share of global commerce,” and cited a projection from a16z that AI agents could drive $30 trillion in purchases by 2030.
