Securitize named Brett Redfearn its president and a board member on April 9, 2026. The move lifted him from chairman of the company's advisory board1. CoinDesk reported on April 9, 2026, that Redfearn had once led the SEC's Division of Trading and Markets. The hire came as Securitize works toward a public listing in 2026 through a deal with Cantor Equity Partners II2.

The move
Securitize posted the news itself on X. “We're excited to announce Brett Redfearn as President and a member of the Board at Securitize,” the company wrote. “Brett has been a key part of our journey, serving as Chairman of our Advisory Board. Now he's stepping into an expanded leadership role.”1
CoinDesk filled in why the title grew. Redfearn would “work with Securitize's leadership team to scale its offerings across issuance, trading and fund administration,” the outlet reported, citing the company's release2. Chief executive Carlos Domingo framed the hire as a known hand stepping up into a bigger role. “Brett has been instrumental in how modern markets are structured and regulated,” Domingo said in a statement CoinDesk quoted. “He is deeply familiar with our business, leadership team, and long-term vision.”
Securitize before and after
Redfearn's path ran through both the regulator and the industry it watches. Before Securitize, he founded Panorama Financial Markets Advisory, a firm that advised exchanges and asset managers, CoinDesk reported2. He also led capital markets at Coinbase, where he worked to grow institutional use of digital assets, and he spent more than a dozen years at JPMorgan before he joined the SEC, CoinDesk reported.
The timing mattered. CoinDesk called the hire part of “a broader trend of firms bringing in former regulators to navigate a complex policy environment,” and tied it straight to Securitize's plan to list publicly through the Cantor Equity Partners II deal2.
What to watch
The test for this hire is simple: does it change how regulators and big institutional partners treat Securitize's push to go public? CoinDesk reported that the appointment was meant to add “regulatory credentials as it seeks to scale its tokenization platform for issuing, trading and administering blockchain-based versions of traditional financial assets”2. The Cantor Equity Partners II deal that CoinDesk named as Securitize's route to a public listing is the next milestone worth watching, along with any filing either firm makes as that deal moves forward.
