“Fireblocks named Michael Levine, Payoneer's chief financial officer through its public offering, its own CFO on March 7, 2024, and its chief executive called a Fireblocks listing an option the company would look at. Does a finance chief with a listing on his résumé signal a listing to come?”

Fireblocks named Michael Levine chief financial officer on March 7, 2024, in a blog post announcing a round of executive hires1. CoinDesk independently reported the hire on March 7, 2024, writing that Levine joined "from Payoneer (NASDAQ: PAYO) as CFO"2. Fireblocks credited him with “over 30 years of experience building and scaling technology and financial services companies,” including his time as Payoneer's CFO "leading up to their successful public offering".

      The move

Fireblocks CEO Michael Shaulov tied Levine's hire, and two other executive hires announced on March 7, 2024, to a bet that crypto's next bull run was coming. “We didn't know exactly when the market would start expanding again, but it was clear to us it would happen sooner or later,” Shaulov told CoinDesk2. Shaulov also addressed a possible listing. “It's reasonable that we will see more crypto companies that have the right financials IPO. We don't have any urgency to do it, but it's definitely something from an optionality standpoint, we will be looking at,” Shaulov said. CoinDesk noted that the hire, from "a big U.S.-listed fintech," could point toward a Fireblocks listing of its own. Circle and Galaxy were weighing the same step at the time, CoinDesk reported.

      Before and after the hire

Levine's hire landed alongside two others in the same announcement: Michal Ferguson as chief marketing officer from Snyk, and Madan Gadde as chief customer officer from FIS1. Fireblocks had raised $550 million at an $8 billion valuation in early 2022. Shaulov told CoinDesk on March 7, 2024, that Fireblocks was very well funded, with most of the money raised still in reserve2.

      What came next

Levine remained Fireblocks' chief financial officer as of February 25, 2026, nearly two years after his March 2024 hire. He published company blog posts under his own byline as CFO. In a February 25, 2026, post, Levine wrote about a run of digital asset acquisitions, two of them by Fireblocks: "Fireblocks acquired Dynamic" in October 2025, and "Fireblocks acquired TRES Finance" in January 2026. Such moves, he wrote, "reveal something more significant about where digital asset operations are heading"3.
