“Thesis*, a venture studio building on Bitcoin, hired Victoria Chan from Coinbase's blockchain division as chief operating officer on September 16, 2025, a month after it bought the rewards app Lolli. Does a studio with four live products need one more executive to hold them together?”

Thesis* named Victoria Chan chief operating officer on September 16, 2025, the venture studio said in a press release1. The studio builds Fold, Mezo and tBTC, three Bitcoin-native products. Chan came from Coinbase, where she ran developer global services, and from a decade-plus run at Google before that. CoinDesk confirmed the hire on September 16. The move followed Mezo's May 2025 launch and Thesis*'s August 2025 purchase of Bitcoin rewards app Lolli, CoinDesk reported2.

      The move

Thesis* tied the hire to an expansion of what it called its BitcoinFi ecosystem. Chan described her own reasons for taking the job. “Over the course of my career, I've seen the inherent value of integrating blockchain technology with traditional internet architecture, offering more security, decentralization, and greater agency over their digital interactions and assets,” Chan said1. She named the products she would now oversee. “Thesis* is at the forefront of this digital revolution with products like Fold, Mezo, and now Lolli, unlocking the power of Bitcoin for everyday applications,” Chan said. Matt Luongo, founder and chief executive of Thesis*, explained the choice in terms of values. “Victoria represents the exact kind of mentality we want to champion at Thesis* - thoughtful integration of Bitcoin values, maintaining transparency, self-custody, and user empowerment across our products,” Luongo said.

      Before and after at Thesis*

Chan joined a studio running four Bitcoin-native brands. Her mandate put one executive in charge of tying them together, the release's own framing suggests1. At Coinbase, Chan managed vendor and operational teams across blockchain operations, NFTs and developer services. She focused on scaling products such as WaaS and Base. CoinDesk reported that Thesis* linked the hire to the Mezo launch and the Lolli deal, both completed months before Chan joined2. In her new role, Chan runs day-to-day operations across Thesis*'s full product suite, the release said. Her job aligns strategy with execution across product, engineering, sales, operations and marketing.

      What came next

Mezo, the Bitcoin finance product under Chan's operations team, launched institutional yield vaults called Mezo Prime on April 29, 2026, CoinDesk reported3. The vaults let institutions earn yield on Bitcoin held in custody with Anchorage Digital Bank. Bullish seeded the product with 250 BTC, worth about $19.4 million at the time, CoinDesk reported. CoinDesk called the launch part of a broader shift, as institutions start treating Bitcoin as a productive asset instead of a passive one.
